We have had the privilege of getting to tackle new marketing challenges in various industries and watch them establish their competitive advantage. When it came to branding the creative message for Dr. Michael Major, the main focus was for it to be known, “snoring is not normal, not even a little”- Dr. Michael Major. Our goal was to make it known that it’s not healthy, it is preventative and by treating it, can improve an individuals quality of life! After the brand is launched, we will determine its overall success through financial benchmarks and revenue.

When selecting the brand colours for Dr. Major, our mission was to appear professional, authoritative, trustworthy and provide a sense of tranquility. Blue is a highly used colour in the healthcare field, as it has high associations with being perceived as serious and mature, so it seemed fitting to use for the brand. In the icon, we featured an abstract image of an individual sleeping and chose to incorporate a sea-foam green colour as it creatively signifies growth, refreshment and balance.

When selecting the brand colours, some of the things we take into consideration are:

  • Gender: Is my brand traditionally masculine or feminine?
  • Tone: Is my brand playful or serious?
  • Value: Is my brand luxurious or affordable?
  • Time: Is my brand modern or classic?
  • Age: Is my brand youthful or mature?
  • Energy: Is my brand loud or subdued?

Understanding Marketing Goals

In university, Dr. Michael Major began researching Sleep Apnea and along with two other doctors, wrote his thesis paper on it. Now ten years later he and those same doctors are opening a clinic where they as a team treat the many layers and issues of the disorder. Together these specialists develop the best treatment strategy for the child suffering with sleep apnea. Many do not realizes how important a good quality of sleep is necessary for child development and overall health. Poor sleep can affect family dynamics, social consequences, schooling and curricular achievement.

What is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea is a type of sleep disorder that can have serious health complications. An individual with sleep apnea will experience short periods of not breathing while asleep. The most common symptoms are loud snoring and fatigue, even when the individual has technically slept enough. Although there are many forms of sleep apnea, the most common, obstructive sleep apnea, happens when the muscles in the throat relax and the airway becomes obstructed. There’s also central sleep apnea, which is caused by the brain failing to send the right signals to the muscles controlling breathing.

In 2019, Dr. Major utilized our studio to produce a commercial used for advertising locally in both Cineplex and Landmark theatres here in Edmonton for his orthodontist clinic, Verve Orthodontics.  Here is what we created.
